QUARRY STONE is an ongoing creative research project by Maxwell Gray about the Norwegian-American immigrant and amateur historian Hjalmar Holand (1872-1963), the Kensington Rune Stone and white settler memory. Digitzed images of plates from printed books by Hjalmar Holand are published by HathiTrust. Recordings of stories from descendants of white settlers from New Ulm, Minnesota, are published by the Minnesota Historical Society.

Milwaukee is covered by the 1833 Treaty of Chicago signed by the United States and Potawatomi and acknowledge it cleaved and dispersed this tribal nation through removal.
